Chapter 2: Secrets Behind the Perfect Family

Chapter 2: Secrets Behind the Perfect Family
Doctors worked through the night.
Hours later, the emergency physician finally emerged.
"Your son is alive."
Tomás nearly collapsed with relief.
"The sedative dosage could have stopped his breathing completely. If he'd arrived even thirty minutes later..."
He couldn't finish the sentence.
Tomás turned toward Rosa.
"You saved him."
She lowered her head.
"I almost didn't."
Meanwhile, detectives searched the mansion.
Inside Valeria's private bathroom they found more prescription sedatives under another person's name.
Then investigators uncovered something even darker.
Security cameras.
Valeria had forgotten that Tomás had upgraded the home's surveillance system after Santiago's premature birth.
The footage clearly showed her entering the kitchen.
Removing the brown bottle.
Pouring the liquid into the baby's formula.
Then threatening Rosa.
There was no audio.
There didn't need to be.
The images said everything.
When detectives confronted Valeria, she remained strangely calm.
"You don't understand."
"He ruined my life."
Everyone stared.
She finally admitted the truth she had buried for months.
She had never wanted children.
The pregnancy had nearly destroyed her modeling career.
After Santiago was born prematurely, she blamed him for every opportunity she believed she had lost.
"He cried every day," she said coldly.
"I only wanted one night of silence."
Even the detectives struggled to hide their disgust.
She was arrested before sunrise.
As officers led her away in handcuffs, she looked directly at Rosa.
"This is your fault."
Rosa shook her head.
May you like
"No."
"This happened because I finally stopped being afraid."
