Daniel sat beside Noah, his son's small hand wrapped tightly around his own.
Across the room, Marissa looked nothing like the elegant woman who had once charmed everyone she met. The expensive clothes were gone. So was the confident smile.
Only cold eyes remained.

Every juror watched the screen as hospital security footage played.
Marissa entering Noah's room.
The moment she adjusted his cast while pretending to comfort him.

Payments to an illegal exotic-animal supplier.
Bank transfers hidden through shell accounts.
One message froze the courtroom.
"Once the arm is gone, everything transfers exactly as planned."
Daniel felt sick.

Marissa never looked back.
