Chapter 2 – The Truth Hidden in the Blood

Chapter 2 – The Truth Hidden in the Blood
Two days later, the hospital conference room felt colder than ever.
Dr. Robles placed three sealed envelopes on the table.
Valeria squeezed Arturo's hand.
Leticia sat nearby, still insisting the hospital had exaggerated everything.
Dr. Robles opened the first report.
"The good news is that Matthew's bleeding disorder has been identified."
"He has a rare inherited platelet function disorder."
"With proper treatment, he can live a healthy life."
Valeria closed her eyes and whispered a prayer.
Then Dr. Robles reached for the second envelope.
"This contains the genetic compatibility report."
Arturo frowned.
"What does that mean?"
"It tells us which parent passed down the condition."
He opened the file.
His eyes paused.
Then he looked back at Arturo.
"I'm sorry..."
"But your DNA is not compatible with Matthew."
The room fell silent.
Arturo blinked.
"What?"
"There must be a mistake."
Dr. Robles calmly continued.
"We repeated the analysis twice."
"The probability of error is less than one in ten billion."
Leticia jumped to her feet.
"I knew it!"
She pointed at Valeria.
"She's been cheating on my son!"
"You filthy liar!"
Before anyone could react—
Valeria slapped the table.
"No!"
"I have never been with another man!"
Her voice echoed through the room.
Dr. Robles raised his hand.
"Mrs. Leticia..."
"Please sit down."
"This report doesn't prove Mrs. Valeria was unfaithful."
Everyone stared at him.
"It only proves Mr. Arturo is not the biological father."
"There are several medical explanations."
