Chapter 3 – No More Excuses

Chapter 3 – No More Excuses
That evening Daniel called everyone into the dining room.
The television stayed off.
Nobody spoke.
He connected his laptop to the television.
"I want all of you to watch something."
The recordings began.
No dramatic music.
No editing.
Just reality.
Lily carrying groceries alone.
His mother walking past without helping.
His sister laughing while Lily struggled to pick up dropped vegetables.
Minutes felt like hours.
Nobody could defend themselves.
When the final video ended, Daniel closed the laptop.
"I've spent years believing we were a loving family."
He looked around the room.
"I was wrong."
His mother tried to explain.
"We were only teaching her responsibility."
Daniel answered immediately.
"You weren't teaching responsibility."
May you like
"You were teaching cruelty."
For the first time in years, nobody argued back.
