Chapter 9 - The Shipyard Raid. The industrial district was a sprawling labyrinth of rusted shipping containers and decaying warehouses.

Fog rolled in off the dark, churning harbor, masking the area in a thick, eerie blanket.

We parked the SUV a few blocks away from the target location to avoid detection.

Victor and I moved silently through the shadows, completely camouflaged by the midnight gloom.

Our target was Warehouse 4, a massive, rusted structure that loomed ominously near the water's edge.

Two armed guards stood outside the corrugated metal doors, smoking cheap cigarettes.

They were not highly trained mercenaries; they looked like cheap thugs hired off the street.

Victor crept up behind the first guard, snapping his neck with a swift, brutal motion.

Before the second guard could react, I stepped out from the shadows and struck him across the temple with the butt of my pistol.

He collapsed silently to the wet pavement, completely unconscious.

We stacked up against the heavy metal door, listening to the muffled voices echoing from within.

"Breach on three," Victor whispered, holding up a customized explosive charge.

He attached the small device to the reinforced locking mechanism and stepped back.

"One. Two. Three."

The charge detonated with a sharp, localized crack, blowing the heavy locks completely off their hinges.

We rushed into the dimly lit warehouse, our weapons raised and ready for a firefight.

The interior was massive, filled with stacked wooden crates and stolen luxury vehicles.

In the center of the room, Brenda stood frozen in absolute terror, dropping a clipboard onto the concrete floor.

Surrounding her were six armed men, who immediately raised their assault rifles in our direction.

"Kill them!" Brenda shrieked hysterically, her flawless composure entirely shattered.

Gunfire erupted instantly, echoing like thunder inside the cavernous metal building.

I dove behind a stack of wooden crates as a barrage of bullets chewed through the wood.

Victor provided aggressive suppressing fire, moving fluidly from cover to cover like a phantom.

I peeked around the edge of the crate and took aim at a thug standing near a forklift.

Two shots to center mass dropped him instantly, his rifle clattering uselessly to the ground.

The firefight was chaotic and deafening, but these men were no match for our elite training.

Within three agonizing minutes, all six of Brenda's bodyguards lay dead or severely wounded on the floor.

The warehouse fell into a sudden, eerie silence, broken only by the sound of Brenda's panicked sobbing.

I stepped out from behind my cover, my weapon leveled directly at her trembling figure.

She backed away slowly until her back hit a rusted support beam, leaving her trapped.

The arrogant woman who had smirked at me the previous night was now a pathetic, shivering mess.

"Hello, Brenda," I greeted her coldly, my voice echoing in the large empty space.

"It looks like your prince charming forgot to take you with him when he fled his crumbling castle."

She stared at the barrel of my gun, her expensive crimson dress now ruined with dirt and grime.

"Mariana, please, you don't understand," Brenda whimpered, echoing Richard's pathetic excuse.

"He forced me to stay here, he said he would kill me if I didn't handle the weapons transfer!" she cried loudly.

I laughed, a harsh and bitter sound that made her flinch.

"You were completely willing to steal my life when you thought I was weak," I reminded her.

May you like

I stepped closer, pressing the cold steel of my gun against her cheek, right where Andrew had slapped me.

"Now, you are going to help me completely destroy him."
