Chapter 4 – Kneeling Before the Truth

Chapter 4 – Kneeling Before the Truth

Days later...

Andrew requested a meeting.

Mariana agreed.

Not because she still loved him.

Because she wanted closure.

They met inside the same charity hall where he had once introduced her as "an ordinary woman lucky to marry above her station."

Now every executive stood behind Mariana.

Andrew entered alone.

His expensive suit had been replaced by a plain gray jacket.

His eyes carried weeks of sleepless nights.

Without speaking...

He slowly dropped to both knees.

Exactly as he had once demanded of her.

"I'm sorry."

"I believed my own arrogance."

"I confused your kindness with weakness."

"I don't deserve forgiveness."

Mariana looked at him quietly.

"I know."

He lowered his head.

"I loved you."

She answered softly.

"No."

"You loved the version of me that never challenged your pride."

She stepped closer.

"The woman you slapped died the moment you raised your hand."

"The woman standing before you owes you nothing."

May you like

Andrew cried for the first time in years.

But some tears arrive too late.
