Chapter 10 - The Precinct Under Siege

The emergency backup generators finally kicked in, bathing the precinct in an eerie, pulsating red light.
Thick, choking smoke from a deployed tear gas canister began to fill the narrow concrete hallways.
Julian coughed violently, his eyes burning as he tried to see through the dense, grey haze.
He could hear the terrifying sound of automatic gunfire echoing from the front lobby of the station.
His bodyguard, Marcus, dragged him toward a heavy steel fire exit at the end of the corridor.
They had to get out immediately before the ruthless hit squad completely overran the building.
Julian resisted, shouting that they needed to secure Chloe before the assassins could reach her.
Marcus argued fiercely, stating that his only priority was keeping Julian alive at all costs.
Julian pushed past the massive bodyguard, sprinting back toward the holding cells.
He found the interrogation room door blasted off its heavy metal hinges.
The two detectives were lying motionless on the floor, surrounded by shattered glass and debris.
Chloe was cowering desperately in the far corner, her hands still firmly chained to the heavy table.
She looked at Julian with wide, terrified eyes, begging him not to leave her there to die.
Despite everything she had done to destroy his family, Julian could not let her be slaughtered.
He quickly searched the fallen detective's belt, finding a small set of silver keys.
Julian unlocked the heavy handcuffs, pulling Chloe roughly to her trembling feet.
He handed her a fallen revolver, telling her to use it if she actually wanted to live.
Together, they moved cautiously out into the chaotic, smoke-filled hallway.

They had to fight their way through an army of trained killers to reach the safety of the dark streets.
It was a twisted irony that Julian was now risking his own life to save the woman who had tried to ruin him.
