Chapter 3 - The Bride's Desperation

Chloe paced frantically back and forth in her small, dimly lit apartment.
The extravagant wedding dress was now a crumpled mess on the dirty floor.
She chewed on her fingernails, her mind racing with dark and desperate thoughts.
Her perfectly constructed plan had completely fallen apart in a matter of seconds.
She had been so close to securing the billionaire lifestyle she believed she rightfully deserved.
All she needed was a signature on the marriage certificate, and the fortune would have been hers.
Elena had ruined everything with her persistent snooping and her annoying morality.
Chloe threw a heavy glass vase against the wall, watching it shatter into sharp fragments.
She refused to accept defeat so easily.
She grabbed her cell phone and dialed a number she had sworn never to call again.
A gruff voice answered on the third ring, demanding to know what she wanted.
Chloe quickly explained the situation, leaving out the details of her own chaotic failure.
She told the man that she needed a favor, a permanent solution to her current problem.
The man on the other end laughed, a chilling sound that made Chloe's blood run completely cold.
He agreed to help her, but the price would be much higher than she could currently afford.
Chloe promised him anything he wanted, sealing a dark pact in the middle of the night.
She hung up the phone, a wicked and twisted smile forming on her lips.
If she could not have Julian and his immense wealth, then no one else would.

The game was far from over, and Chloe was ready to play her final, deadly card.
She began to pack a small bag, preparing to disappear into the shadows of the city.
