CHAPTER 3 — What Quincy Saw Before

CHAPTER 3 — What Quincy Saw Before

Quincy stepped forward suddenly.

“I told you,” he said, voice cracking. “I told you this happened before.”

The woman stared at him.

“What are you talking about?”

Quincy’s hands shook as he pointed at Daniel’s mother.

“Last year… there was another baby.”

The alley went dead silent.

Daniel’s jaw tightened.

Quincy continued, crying now.

“She said the same thing. That it was mercy. That it was sick. And then the baby disappeared from the hospital records.”

The mother-in-law’s face hardened.

“That child was never—”

“Yes, it was!” Quincy shouted. “I saw the file! I saw Dad sign papers!”

The truth began to unravel like torn fabric.

The woman turned slowly toward her husband.

“You signed away another child?”

Daniel’s silence confirmed it.

A second life.

A second disappearance.

And now her newborn was almost the third.

The woman stepped back, holding her baby like a shield.

“You’re monsters…”

Sirens suddenly echoed in the distance.

Quincy had called them.

Daniel’s eyes widened.

“You little—”

But it was too late.

Red and blue lights flooded the alley.

Police rushed in.

The mother collapsed to her knees, still holding her daughter tightly against her chest.

For the first time, she didn’t feel fear.

Only truth.

As officers restrained Daniel and his mother, Quincy walked slowly to her side.

“I’m sorry I didn’t say it sooner,” he whispered.

She pulled him into her free arm.

“You saved her,” she said.

The baby let out a stronger cry—alive, real, undeniable.

And as the hospital doors closed behind the chaos, one truth remained:

This was never an accident.

It was a pattern.

May you like

And now, it was finally over.
