CHAPTER 3: THE COURTROOM BATTLE

CHAPTER 3: THE COURTROOM BATTLE

Three weeks later, the Whitmore family attacked.

Exactly as Jonathan predicted.

They filed for emergency custody.

Their lawyers painted me as an unstable father.

They claimed I was aggressive.

They claimed I endangered Lily by taking her away from a wealthy environment.

But they made one mistake.

They underestimated the truth.

At the custody hearing, Patricia arrived surrounded by lawyers.

She expected victory.

Until Jonathan stood up.

“Your Honor, we would like to introduce evidence that changes the entire situation.”

The courtroom became silent.

One by one, he revealed everything.

The voicemail.

The financial records.

The hidden accounts.

Then came the final piece.

A security recording from the Christmas gala.

The courtroom watched as Patricia slapped Lily.

Nobody spoke.

Even the judge looked shocked.

Then the video continued.

Claire defending her mother.

The room became unbearable.

The judge looked at Claire.

“Mrs. Whitmore, is this your daughter?”

Claire started crying.

“Yes.”

“And did you witness this incident?”

Claire whispered:

“Yes.”

“Why did you not protect your child?”

Claire had no answer.

For the first time, she looked ashamed.

The judge ruled immediately.

Temporary full custody was granted to me.

Patricia’s influence meant nothing.

Her money meant nothing.

Because there was one thing she couldn’t buy.

The truth.

Outside the courthouse, reporters surrounded us.

Patricia pushed through the crowd.

“Daniel!”

I stopped.

She looked different.

Not powerful.

Not untouchable.

Just a woman who finally realized she had lost.

“You destroyed my family,” she said.

I looked at her.

“No.”

May you like

I held Lily’s hand.

“You destroyed your own family when you forgot a child was more important than your reputation.”
