Slipping away from the gala, Mariana bypassed the security detail guarding the executive elevators using a cloned keycard Julian had fabricated. She rode up to the 50th floor, the nerve center of the Salcedo empire.
The server room was guarded by a biometric lock. Mariana didn't have her father’s thumbprint, but she knew the system's failsafe protocol. She triggered a localized thermal overload in the adjacent HVAC unit. Within three minutes, the fire suppression system initiated, popping the magnetic locks on all server doors to prevent a total lockdown during an emergency.
She slipped inside the freezing, humming room. She found the primary terminal, broke the glass cover, and jammed the USB injector into the port.
