CHAPTER 1: THE WOMAN BEHIND THE DOOR

CHAPTER 1: THE WOMAN BEHIND THE DOOR
The sound of Victoria’s heels stopped outside the nursery.
Emily’s face turned completely pale.
"Sir..." she whispered. "Please don't let her know I told you."
I looked at the woman who had spent years caring for my children. The woman who had never once complained, never once asked for anything, and now sat tied to my bed, bleeding because of my wife.
The door handle slowly turned.
Victoria stepped inside.
She was still wearing the same elegant black dress from dinner, a glass of wine in her hand, her expression calm.
Too calm.
Then she saw me.
For a second, surprise flashed across her face.
Then it disappeared.
"Daniel," she said softly. "You're home early."
I stared at her.
"Did you do this?"
Her eyes moved toward Emily.
Then toward the twins.
Then back to me.
"You're misunderstanding the situation."
"The situation?" I repeated. "You tied my children's nanny to a bed."
Victoria sighed.
"Emily is emotional. She always exaggerates."
Emily lowered her eyes.
I noticed something.
She wasn't afraid of me.
She was afraid of Victoria.
"Tell him," Victoria said coldly.
Emily froze.
"Tell him what?"
Victoria smiled.
"Tell him who you really are."
My heart tightened.
"What does that mean?"
Emily looked at me with tears in her eyes.
"Mr. Cole... I didn't want you to find out this way."
Victoria walked closer.
"Go ahead, Emily. Tell him."
Emily swallowed hard.
"My son's name is Noah."
I frowned.
"I know you have a son."
She shook her head.
"No. You don't know the truth."
The room became silent.
"Noah is not just my son."
She looked at my twins.
"He is their brother."
My entire body went cold.
"What?"
Emily's voice trembled.
"Your wife knows."
I looked at Victoria.
She didn't deny it.
And that was the moment I knew.

This wasn't just cruelty.
This was a secret.
