Chapter 3: The Woman Who Walked Through the Rain

Chapter 3: The Woman Who Walked Through the Rain

Outside, thunder rolled across the city.

The revolving doors slowly opened.

A woman stepped inside.

She was soaked from the rain.

Her clothes were simple.

Her face showed years of hardship.

Yet the moment Victoria saw her...

She staggered backward.

"Emily..."

The woman looked directly at her older sister.

"You didn't expect me to survive."

The guests parted as Emily walked toward the little girl.

Without saying a word, the child ran into her arms.

The embrace lasted several seconds.

The lobby remained silent except for quiet sobbing.

Emily gently kissed her daughter's forehead before turning toward Victoria.

"I never wanted your fortune."

"I wanted my family."

Victoria's composure finally cracked.

"You disappeared."

Emily shook her head.

"No."

"I was forced out."

She pulled several worn envelopes from her coat.

Medical records.

Court filings.

Letters.

Every document carried the same name.

Victoria Hale.

Emily looked around the lobby.

"You spent years telling the world I abandoned my child."

"But the truth..."

"...was that you paid people to erase us."

Several hotel executives lowered their heads.

They had known pieces of the story.

May you like

None had known everything.

Until now.
