Chapter 12: The Voided Contract
Eleanor stared at the manila folder as if it were a live explosive. She slowly reached out, her hands trembling violently, and opened the flap.
"Divorce papers?" she whispered, her voice cracking as she saw the bold legal heading.
"Read the highlighted section on page four," I instructed coldly, leaning back in my chair.
Her eyes scanned the dense legal jargon, her lips moving silently until she reached the yellow highlight. "Clause 4b... in the event of proven physical or psychological abuse toward the primary holder's dependents... all claims to shared assets, real estate, and financial support are entirely voided."
She dropped the papers onto the desk, her breathing becoming rapid and shallow. "You can't prove that! It’s hearsay! A child's word against mine!"
I tapped a button on my desk remote, and the massive flat-screen TV on the wall flared to life. High-definition security footage played, showing her aggressively shoving Maya into the pantry, followed by the crystal-clear audio of her cruel insults.
Eleanor let out a choked gasp, covering her mouth with her hands as she backed away from the screen.

"The police already have copies," I said smoothly, turning the TV off. "My lawyers have copies. The judge overseeing our divorce has copies. You are walking away from this marriage with exactly what you brought into it: nothing. And if you ever try to contact me, my daughter, or my company again, I will personally ensure the prosecutor seeks the maximum state prison sentence for child endangerment."
I looked at the security guards. "Escort her out of the building. Revoke her building access permanently."
