Chapter 7: The Reckoning

Judge Miller called for a brief recess to review the digital files in her chambers. The courtroom was agonizingly tense. Isabella was frantically whispering to her lawyer, her confident facade cracking as she realized Ethan's silence wasn't fear—it was the silence of a predator about to strike.

Twenty minutes later, the judge returned. Her face was pale, and her eyes were furious.

She slammed her gavel down so hard it echoed like a gunshot. "Mrs. Cole," Judge Miller snapped, her voice dripping with absolute disgust. "I have just watched you force an eleven-year-old child to scrub a floor with bleach without gloves until she bled. I have listened to you call her a 'parasite'. And I have watched you entertain a gentleman who is decidedly not your husband in the marital bed."

Isabella stood up, trembling, her face drained of all color. "Your Honor, that—that footage is doctored! It's AI! He manipulated it to ruin me!"

"Sit down and be quiet!" the judge roared. "The metadata has been authenticated by an independent forensic expert. You have perjured yourself in your filings. You have abused a minor in your care. You have violated the infidelity clause of your prenuptial agreement."

Isabella's lawyer slowly packed his briefcase and took a step away from her, realizing his client had lied to him and his case was entirely radioactive.

"I am granting Mr. Cole sole, unmitigated custody of Ava," Judge Miller ruled. "I am upholding the prenuptial agreement in its entirety, leaving you with zero claim to the marital assets. Furthermore, I am forwarding this video evidence to the District Attorney's office for potential child abuse and child endangerment charges."
