Chapter 1: The Man Who Stopped the Arrest

Chapter 1: The Man Who Stopped the Arrest
The silver Rolls-Royce screeched to a halt in front of the mansion just as two officers guided Clara down the front steps.
Her twin boys, Ethan and Evan, still clung desperately to her legs, sobbing so hard they could barely breathe.
"Mommy! Don't leave us!"
Clara's own tears blurred her vision.
"I didn't steal anything," she whispered for what felt like the hundredth time. "Please... someone believe me."
Standing beneath the marble archway, Margaret Whitmore—the wealthy widow who owned the estate—watched with folded arms.
"The evidence speaks for itself," she said coldly. "My diamond necklace was found in her room."
Before the officers could place Clara into the patrol car, the rear door of the Rolls-Royce opened.
A tall man in a charcoal suit stepped out.
His presence alone silenced the courtyard.
It was Adrian Bennett, founder of Bennett Global Holdings and one of the country's most respected businessmen.
Margaret's face immediately brightened.
"Adrian! Thank goodness you're here. We've caught the thief."
But Adrian never looked at Margaret.
His eyes settled on the crying boys.
Then on Clara.
His expression slowly hardened.
"What happened?"
Margaret quickly explained.
"Our maid stole my family necklace. We found it hidden in her bedroom."
Adrian listened without interruption.
Then he quietly asked one question.
"Who searched the room?"
"My private security."
"Were the police present?"
"No."
"Were body cameras recording?"
Silence.
Adrian turned toward the officers.
"Have you verified the chain of custody?"
The senior officer hesitated.
"...No, sir."
Adrian slowly removed his phone.
"Then no one is leaving until Internal Affairs and the forensic team arrive."
Margaret's smile disappeared.
"You can't interfere with an investigation."
Adrian finally looked at her.
May you like
"I'm not interfering."
"I'm preventing an innocent woman from being destroyed."
