Chapter 12 - The Unwanted Return

The grand charity gala for the local children's hospital was the social event of the entire season.

I arrived at the luxurious hotel ballroom wearing a stunning, backless emerald green designer gown.

Hundreds of wealthy donors and powerful politicians immediately turned their heads to watch me enter the room.

I walked down the grand staircase with absolute grace, feeling the heavy weight of their admiring stares.

Silas Vance materialized from the crowded room and smoothly offered me a glass of expensive vintage champagne.

He quietly complimented my elegant appearance and guided me toward the VIP seating area near the main stage.

We spent the first hour of the evening casually discussing our impending national expansion strategy.

I felt completely in my element, surrounded by immense wealth, power, and undeniable success.

Suddenly, a loud, highly inappropriate commotion erupted near the main entrance of the grand ballroom.

I turned my head slightly and watched the heavy security guards aggressively pushing a frantic man toward the exit.

My heart did not flutter, but my eyes instantly narrowed as I recognized the pathetic figure struggling in the doorway.

It was Julian, wearing a cheap, terribly wrinkled suit that looked completely out of place in this wealthy crowd.

He managed to break free from the large security guards for a brief, desperate moment.

He wildly scanned the massive room until his desperate eyes finally locked onto my calm, glowing face.

He shouted my name at the top of his lungs, causing the entire ballroom to fall into a dead, awkward silence.

Julian aggressively pushed past a wealthy couple and stumbled directly toward my reserved table.

He smelled strongly of cheap liquor and immense, suffocating desperation.

He threw himself onto his knees right in front of my chair, completely ignoring the horrified gasps of the wealthy guests.

He sobbed loudly, begging me to please forgive him and take him back into my luxurious life.

He cried that he was currently facing complete bankruptcy and was about to be evicted from his miserable apartment.

He publicly humiliated himself, loudly confessing that leaving me was the absolute biggest mistake of his pathetic life.

I sat perfectly still, holding my crystal champagne flute with absolute, unwavering steadiness.

I did not feel a single ounce of pity for the trembling, broken man weeping openly on the expensive ballroom carpet.

Silas stood up slowly, his tall frame casting a dark, intimidating shadow over Julian's kneeling body.

Silas coldly signaled for the head of security to immediately remove the disgusting trash from the premises.

Julian desperately reached out to grab the delicate hem of my expensive emerald gown.

I swiftly moved my leg backward, completely denying him the physical contact he so desperately craved.

I looked down at his tear-stained, red face with a perfectly calm, icy expression.

I quietly told him that his public performance was absolutely pathetic and entirely useless.

I reminded him that he was the one who had intentionally destroyed our sacred vows for a fleeting moment of cheap pleasure.

The heavy security guards violently grabbed Julian by his arms and dragged him backward across the polished floor.

He continued to scream my name until the heavy ballroom doors finally slammed shut behind him.

I calmly took a small sip of my cold champagne and completely ignored the lingering whispers of the stunned crowd.

I turned back to Silas and smoothly asked him to continue his brilliant presentation on our new marketing budget.

I had permanently closed the book on Julian Caldwell, and I refused to let his pathetic ghost haunt my glorious future.
