Chapter 10: The Rebirth

Chapter 10: The Rebirth
Five years later.
The skyline of New York City glittered outside the panoramic windows of the Sterling-Vale Foundation. I sat at the head of a long glass boardroom table, reviewing the quarterly reports.
We had repurposed the recovered millions from Adrian’s fraudulent accounts to fund a massive global initiative. The foundation provided elite private security, legal extraction, and untraceable financial support for women trapped in high-net-worth abusive marriages—women who, like I once was, were suffocated by men who used money and power to build invisible cages.
I signed the final authorization for an extraction team heading to London to pull a woman out of a billionaire's estate.
My father walked into the boardroom, looking older but just as sharp. He poured us both a cup of black coffee and sat down.
"The London team is in position," he noted, glancing at the dossier. "Are you taking this call?"
"I am," I smiled, picking up the encrypted secure line.
I was no longer the quiet, terrified wife kneeling under a chandelier. I was the architect of my own empire, wielding the very power that Adrian had so desperately tried to take from me.
The phone connected. A terrified, trembling woman’s voice came through the speaker. "Hello? Can you help me?"
May you like
I leaned back in my chair, looking out over the city that never slept, feeling the solid, unyielding strength in my own bones.
"My name is Evelyn Vale," I said, my voice steady, warm, and absolute. "Pack a small bag. Leave the jewelry. We are coming to get you, and by tomorrow morning, he will have nothing."
