Chapter 20 - No Spilled WineLiam Thorne was sitting in a deep leather armchair by the frost-covered window, nursing a glass of bourbon. He looked up as I entered, and that slow, dangerous smile spread across his face.

He looked devastating in a dark cashmere sweater and tailored trousers, the epitome of ruthless, quiet wealth.

"You're late, CEO," Liam teased, standing up as I approached.

"I had to fire a vendor in Chicago," I replied casually, slipping off my camel coat. "I see you made yourself at home."

"When you own forty-nine percent of the Chamonix property, you tend to get comfortable in Sterling establishments," Liam noted, stepping closer.

Our partnership in Europe had been a massive success, merging his aggressive capital with my family's luxury hospitality brand. But over the last eleven months, our relationship had evolved beyond boardroom negotiations and encrypted phone calls. There was a magnetic, undeniable pull between us—two apex predators who had finally found an equal.

"I promised you a dinner," Liam said, his voice dropping to that gravelly tone that always sent a shiver down my spine. "I intend to collect."

"Is that right?" I challenged softly, looking up into his stormy gray eyes.

"It is." He reached out, gently brushing a stray lock of hair behind my ear. His touch was warm, a stark contrast to the winter cold outside. "No business talk. No hostile takeovers. Just you, me, and the best table in Aspen."

I looked at him, remembering the man who had stood by me on a freezing balcony, who had drawn a weapon in a Swiss bank vault, and who had never once underestimated me.

"Alright, Mr. Thorne," I murmured, leaning in just a fraction. "But if you let anyone spill wine on me this time, the deal is off."

Liam laughed, a rich, genuine sound that filled the quiet room. He offered me his arm.

"I assure you, Elena," Liam said, his eyes darkening with a promise that had nothing to do with corporate mergers. "No one is ever going to touch you again without my permission."

I took his arm, feeling the solid strength of him beside me.

We walked out of the VIP lounge together, crossing the grand lobby of the empire I had bled for, fought for, and finally secured. The crystal chandeliers glittered above us, reflecting the endless possibilities of a future I completely controlled.

The books never lie. And the truth was, I had won it all.
