Chapter 3: The Empty Throne
The morning sun rose over the Hayes Global skyscraper, casting a golden glow across the city, but inside the executive suite, Preston was drowning in shadows. He had rushed to the office at dawn, fueled by panic and caffeine, desperate to transfer whatever liquid assets he could salvage before the corporate freezing orders hit.
He hammered his password into the terminal, praying to a god he didn't believe in, only to be met with a glowing red "ACCESS DENIED" screen. He slammed his fist against the desk, cursing under his breath.
Suddenly, the heavy oak doors clicked open. Emily stood there, flanked by corporate security and a team of forensic accountants carrying boxes. She looked immaculate in a tailored white suit, her posture commanding and absolute.
"Looking for something, Preston?" she asked, her voice eerily calm, cutting through the silence of the office.

Preston tried to bluff, puffing out his chest and sneering. "You think a little stunt in a ballroom means anything? I built this empire with my sweat! You're just a spoiled girl who got lucky!"
The bravado shattered entirely when security firmly escorted him out of the building. They stripped him of his keycard, his company phone, and his dignity, marching him past rows of staring employees who had suffered under his tyrannical rule for years.
