Chapter 3: The Heir Nobody Knew

Chapter 3: The Heir Nobody Knew

The next morning, every major financial newspaper published the same headline.

"Mysterious Investor Behind Valmont Rescue Revealed."

Adrian stared at the article on his phone.

The picture was old.

Mariana standing beside a group of executives.

Confident.

Powerful.

Untouchable.

The woman in the photo looked nothing like the wife he had pushed around.

His hands tightened.

"She planned everything."

Vivienne sat across from him.

"Yes."

Adrian looked up.

"You knew."

"I suspected."

"You let me marry her."

Vivienne's expression remained emotionless.

"I thought you could control her."

That sentence hurt more than anything else.

Because it revealed the truth.

His mother never saw Mariana as a person.

Only a threat.

The front doors suddenly opened.

A lawyer entered.

"Mr. Valmont."

Adrian stood.

"Who are you?"

"My name is Thomas Reed. I represent Mariana Vale."

The room went silent.

Thomas placed a folder on the table.

"Your wife has filed a claim transferring control of several Valmont assets."

Adrian laughed.

"She can't do that."

Thomas looked at him calmly.

"She already did."

Vivienne stepped forward.

"Impossible."

Thomas opened another document.

"Because according to the original agreement signed seven years ago, the Valmont estate was placed under a protective trust."

Adrian frowned.

"What agreement?"

Thomas looked directly at him.

"The one your father created."

Adrian froze.

His father.

The man who died six years ago.

The man everyone believed left the family fortune entirely to the Valmont heirs.

Thomas continued.

"He created the trust after discovering internal fraud within the family."

Vivienne's face changed.

Only slightly.

But enough.

Adrian noticed.

"You knew about this."

Nobody answered.

Thomas closed the folder.

"The controlling beneficiary of the trust is Mariana Vale."

Adrian stepped back.

"No."

Thomas nodded.

"Your father trusted her."

A painful silence filled the room.

Because suddenly everything made sense.

The marriage.

The secrecy.

The patience.

Mariana wasn't trapped in the Valmont estate.

She was waiting for the right moment to take control.

And that moment had arrived.

Outside the mansion gates, cameras flashed.

Reporters waited.

The world wanted answers.

But Mariana was already moving toward her final decision.

Because there was one more secret.

One secret even Adrian didn't know.

The Valmont empire wasn't the only thing she inherited.

She had inherited something much more dangerous.

The truth about how his father really died.

And when that truth came out...

the entire Valmont family would fall.
