Chapter 11: The Chaos Protocol

Chapter 11: The Chaos Protocol
The three men standing on the metallic ramp spasmed violently, their weapons clattering away as the high voltage locked their muscles. They collapsed in a smoking heap as the current dropped them to the wet concrete.
Absolute panic erupted among the surviving cartel members. Blind, deafening gunfire chewed through the rusted catwalks and steel pillars, showering Eleanor in hot sparks and sharp wooden splinters, but she was already moving, flowing like a ghost from her perch. Reaching into her pocket, she struck a road flare. She dropped the burning red stick from the catwalk directly into the slick pool of marine diesel she had meticulously poured near the main entrance.
The fuel ignited instantly with a massive, oxygen-sucking WHOOSH, creating a roaring wall of fire that completely separated Vargas and two of his remaining guards from the only exit.
Sarah screamed in terror, dropping to her knees and using her own body to shield Tommy from the heat and the bullets.
"Shut up and grab them!" Vargas yelled over the roaring flames, pointing frantically at Sarah while gesturing for his remaining guard to secure the hostages.

Eleanor descended the steel emergency ladder with the terrifying agility of a woman possessed. She slipped silently behind the guard who was aggressively reaching for her daughter's hair. Without hesitating, she raised the suppressed pistol. Pfft. Pfft. Two incredibly precise shots struck the guard—one shattering his collarbone, the second taking out his knee. He collapsed to the concrete, screaming.
Eleanor stepped cleanly over his thrashing body, grabbing Sarah firmly by the collar of her soaked jacket. "Move! To the back office, now! Don't look back!" she ordered, physically pushing her traumatized daughter and grandson toward the heavy steel door.
