Chapter 3: The War Room

Chapter 3: The War Room

We arrived at the Vance estate, a modern fortress of glass and steel perched on the cliffs overlooking the ocean. A private doctor was already waiting. As my wrist was wrapped and secured in a brace, Damian paced the length of the study, listening to the audio files I had secured.

Victor’s voice filled the room, arrogant and cruel. 'You think anyone cares about you, Serena? I own this city. I own the judges, the police, the media. You are nothing.'

Damian stopped the recording. "He really believes his own hype."

"He did," I corrected. "But he relied on fear to maintain control. Tonight, you showed the entire city that Victor bleeds. You shattered the illusion."

"We shattered it," Damian corrected, sitting beside me and tracing the edge of my brace. "But cornered animals are dangerous. His lawyers are already trying to spin the narrative, claiming I had an unprovoked violent breakdown. They’ll try to frame you as a corporate spy."

"Let them," I said, a fire igniting in my chest. "I’ve spent the last six months playing the submissive victim to get close enough to his inner circle. I know where every single skeleton is buried. We don't just go after Victor. We go after the entire board of directors who enabled him."

Damian leaned in, his eyes locked on mine. "This means total war, Serena. There is no going back once I release these files to the SEC and the FBI."

"Hit send," I commanded.
