Chapter 14 - THE SIGNATUREDaniel placed legal documents on a medical tray.

Marcus would surrender control of the family trust.
He would transfer his voting shares.
He would publicly confess to financial crimes committed by Victoria and Samuel Voss.
In exchange, Daniel would allow Grace to receive treatment.
“You know the confession is false.”
Daniel pressed the scalpel harder against Khloe’s skin.
“Truth has never protected my family.”
Marcus picked up the pen.
Khloe shook her head.
“Do not sign.”
“I will not gamble with your life.”
“If you give him control, he will kill us anyway.”
Daniel’s eyes hardened.
Marcus saw that Khloe was right.
The documents were not an exit.
They were a final humiliation.
Daniel intended to leave no witnesses who could challenge him.
Marcus signed the first page.
Then the second.
Daniel relaxed slightly.
That was what Marcus needed.
He knocked the medical tray toward the disguised woman.
The metal struck her wrist.
The syringe fell.
Adrian rushed toward Grace.
Khloe grabbed Daniel’s arm and pulled the scalpel away from her throat.
Marcus drove his shoulder into Daniel’s chest.
They crashed against the wall.
The disguised woman ran toward the exit.
Security officers caught her in the corridor.
Daniel struck Marcus’s injured arm.
Marcus fell to one knee.
Daniel retrieved the syringe from the floor.
He raised it toward Marcus’s neck.
A voice came from the doorway.
“Put it down.”
Edward Thorne stood beside Detective Brooks.
His shoulder was bandaged.
He held Daniel’s gun.
Daniel stared at him.
“You escaped.”
“You wanted me alive long enough to open the archive.”
Edward stepped closer.
“You made the same mistake your father made.”
“You believed revenge could turn theft into justice.”
“My father was innocent.”
“No.”
Edward’s voice broke.
“Your father helped Victoria steal the money.”
“He confessed before he died.”
Daniel looked at Victoria’s documents.
“You are lying.”
Edward took a small recorder from his pocket.
Samuel Voss’s voice filled the room.
He admitted everything.
He apologized to Daniel.
He begged his son not to continue the cycle.
Daniel’s hand lowered.
For one second, grief replaced rage.
Then he turned the syringe toward Grace.
Detective Brooks fired.
The bullet struck Daniel’s shoulder.
He collapsed.
Adrian immediately checked the incubator.
Grace’s heartbeat remained steady.
Marcus rushed to Khloe.
She held him with both arms.
But as police dragged Daniel away, he looked at Edward.
“You still have not told Marcus the worst part.”
Edward’s face became pale.
May you like
Daniel smiled through the pain.
“Tell him who ordered Isabella to kick Khloe.”
