Vivian, however, was not a woman who accepted defeat. Stripped of her status and humiliated in front of New York's elite, she stewed in a penthouse funded by her dwindling trust fund. She wanted Alexander back, but more than that, she wanted to destroy the nobody who had taken her place.
Through the grapevine of disgruntled former household staff, Vivian learned of Maya’s rapid ascent. The former maid was now living like royalty, dining with the Sterlings, and acting as the gatekeeper to the matriarch.

"She thinks she's won," Vivian hissed to a private investigator in a shadowy booth of an upscale bar. She slid a thick envelope of cash across the table. "Find everything on her. Her debts, her family, her secrets. And if she doesn't have any dirty laundry..." Vivian's lips curled into a wicked smile. "...we'll just have to manufacture some."
The investigator tipped his fedora, pocketing the envelope. The plan was simple: poison Alexander's trust, frame Maya for the ultimate betrayal, and slide right back into the Sterling empire as the savior.
