CHAPTER 14 THE CONFESSION BEHIND THE PHONE CALL

CHAPTER 14 THE CONFESSION BEHIND THE PHONE CALL

The entire room stood frozen.

Nobody expected to hear that voice again.

Charlotte Whitmore.

The woman who had disappeared thirty years ago.

The woman whose name was connected to the destruction of the Whitmore family.

The woman Eleanor believed had stolen her daughter.

Now...

She was calling.

Eleanor held the phone tightly.

Her hand was shaking.

But her voice remained strong.

“Where are you?”

A soft laugh came from the other side.

“Still the same, Eleanor.”

“What does that mean?”

“You always want answers immediately.”

Eleanor looked around the room.

Everyone was listening.

Alexander.

Isabella.

Thomas.

Daniel.

Margaret.

Everyone waiting for the truth.

“I have waited thirty years.”

Her voice became colder.

“I think I deserve answers.”

A long silence followed.

Then Charlotte spoke.

“You found Lily.”

Eleanor looked at Isabella.

“Yes.”

Another pause.

“You found the daughter I tried to erase.”

Isabella's expression changed.

The words were painful.

Even though she already knew.

Hearing them directly from the person responsible was different.

Alexander stepped closer.

“Put it on speaker.”

Eleanor nodded.

She activated the speaker.

Everyone could hear.

Charlotte continued.

“I suppose you hate me.”

Eleanor answered immediately.

“You destroyed my family.”

Charlotte laughed softly.

“No.”

Her voice became bitter.

“I revealed what your family always was.”

Thomas stepped forward.

“Stop playing games.”

Charlotte ignored him.

“Thomas.”

Everyone froze.

She knew he was there.

“You always believed you were the smartest one.”

Thomas looked angry.

“You watched us.”

“Yes.”

“For how long?”

Charlotte answered calmly.

“Thirty years.”

The room became colder.

She had not disappeared.

She had been watching.

Waiting.

Planning.

Isabella looked at the phone.

“Why?”

Everyone turned.

Because it was the first time she spoke directly to Charlotte.

The woman who had stolen her childhood.

Charlotte became quiet.

Then she answered.

“Because you took everything from me.”

Isabella frowned.

“I was a baby.”

Charlotte's voice changed.

“I know.”

The answer was unexpected.

“You were innocent.”

A pause.

“But you were still the reason I lost my future.”

Eleanor closed her eyes.

“You blamed a child?”

Charlotte's voice became emotional.

“You never understood.”

“Understand what?”

“You had everything.”

Charlotte continued.

“Everyone loved you.”

“You had a husband who adored you.”

“A daughter who would inherit everything.”

“A family that respected you.”

Her voice became darker.

“And I had nothing.”

Isabella listened carefully.

She expected hatred.

She expected cruelty.

But what she heard was something else.

A person who had allowed jealousy to consume her.

A person who had turned pain into destruction.

Daniel interrupted.

“You planned Lily's disappearance.”

Silence.

Then Charlotte answered:

“Yes.”

Everyone reacted.

No denial.

No excuse.

Just the truth.

Eleanor closed her eyes.

Even after thirty years...

The confession still hurt.

Alexander looked furious.

“You ruined my sister's life.”

Charlotte replied:

“I changed her life.”

“No.”

His voice was sharp.

“You stole it.”

A pause.

Then Charlotte said:

“Perhaps.”

Margaret stepped forward.

“You used Theodore.”

“Yes.”

“You used Victoria.”

“Yes.”

“You destroyed William.”

The phone became silent.

Everyone noticed.

Charlotte did not answer.

Daniel immediately understood.

“That silence means something.”

Eleanor grabbed the phone.

“What did you do to William?”

Charlotte remained quiet.

Then finally...

“I did what was necessary.”

Eleanor's face lost color.

“You killed him.”

Charlotte did not answer.

But silence was enough.

Isabella looked at Eleanor.

Her heart broke.

The woman who had lost her daughter...

Had also lost her husband.

And both losses came from the same person.

Suddenly...

A new voice came from the phone.

A man's voice.

Adrian Vale.

“Charlotte.”

Everyone froze.

She was not alone.

Charlotte sighed.

“You shouldn't interrupt.”

Adrian continued.

“We need to leave.”

Eleanor recognized the voice.

“Adrian Vale.”

Charlotte smiled.

“You finally figured it out.”

The connection between them was revealed.

The powerful investor.

The woman who disappeared.

The hidden company buying Whitmore shares.

All connected.

Thomas looked at the documents.

“The takeover.”

Charlotte laughed.

“Yes.”

“What are you trying to do?”

“Take back what was stolen from me.”

Eleanor's expression hardened.

“You mean take what was never yours.”

Charlotte's voice became cold.

“You always believed blood was everything.”

She paused.

“But you forgot something.”

“What?”

“Power does not care about blood.”

A silence followed.

Then Charlotte delivered the final warning.

“In forty-eight hours, the Whitmore Corporation will no longer belong to you.”

Alexander immediately looked at Thomas.

“What is she talking about?”

Daniel checked the documents.

His face changed.

“She has been buying shares.”

“How many?”

Daniel looked terrified.

“Enough.”

Charlotte continued.

“And there is one more thing.”

Everyone listened.

“The inheritance documents have a condition.”

Eleanor frowned.

“What condition?”

Charlotte answered:

“If Lily Whitmore is proven alive...”

She paused.

“The entire inheritance must be reviewed.”

Everyone looked at Isabella.

Charlotte continued.

“And when the review happens...”

A cold smile appeared in her voice.

“You will discover something interesting.”

Isabella stepped closer.

“What?”

Charlotte replied:

“The child you thought was lost...”

A pause.

“Was not the only Whitmore heir.”

The call ended.

Nobody moved.

Because Charlotte had just revealed another impossible secret.

Another heir.

Another hidden child.

Another lie.

Hours later...

The family gathered in the archives.

Daniel searched through every document.

Thomas reviewed inheritance records.

Margaret looked worried.

Eleanor sat silently.

Isabella approached her.

“Mom.”

Eleanor looked up.

Again.

That word.

It still felt unreal.

“Yes?”

“Is there another child?”

Eleanor's eyes filled with fear.

“I don't know.”

“You don't know?”

Eleanor shook her head.

“There was something my father told me before he died.”

“What?”

“That the Whitmore bloodline had another branch.”

Daniel looked up.

“Another branch?”

Eleanor nodded.

“My father said someone had a child outside the family.”

Everyone became silent.

Alexander frowned.

“Who?”

Eleanor looked at the old family records.

Then whispered:

“I never knew the child's name.”

Suddenly...

The archive computer turned on by itself.

Everyone looked.

A file appeared.

No one had opened it.

The title was:

WHITMORE SECOND HEIR

Daniel approached.

“This was hidden.”

He opened the file.

Inside was one photograph.

A baby.

And a name.

Isabella looked at the screen.

Her heart stopped.

Because the baby in the photograph...

Had the same jade pendant.

The same symbol.

The same bloodline.

The name beneath the picture appeared.

NOAH WHITMORE.

Nobody spoke.

Because if this was true...

Isabella was not the only lost heir.

Someone else existed.

Someone who had been hidden for thirty years.

May you like

And Charlotte knew about him.
