CHAPTER 8 THE UNCLE WHO ERASED A CHILD

CHAPTER 8 THE UNCLE WHO ERASED A CHILD

The name echoed through Isabella's mind.

Lily.

Not Isabella.

Lily.

A name that belonged to another life.

A life she never remembered.

A life someone had stolen from her.

She stood inside the abandoned warehouse, unable to move.

Everything was happening too quickly.

The woman who raised her had lied.

The family she just discovered had hidden secrets.

And now...

The man responsible for her disappearance was alive.

Margaret grabbed Isabella's hand.

“We have to go.”

Isabella looked at her.

“Who is Theodore Whitmore?”

Margaret's face filled with fear.

“He is the reason you lost your family.”

The answer hurt.

“But why?”

Margaret looked toward the entrance.

“Because he believed you were the only thing standing between him and everything he wanted.”

Outside...

Theodore Whitmore stepped out of the black car.

He was older now.

His hair was silver.

His face carried the marks of time.

But his eyes were the same.

Cold.

Calculating.

Unforgiving.

Theodore looked at the warehouse.

For thirty years, he had waited for this moment.

For thirty years, he believed he had successfully erased the past.

But now...

The past had returned.

And it had his niece's face.

Inside the warehouse...

Richard moved toward the exit.

“We need to leave before he gets here.”

Isabella looked at him.

“You work for him.”

Richard stopped.

“Yes.”

The answer was honest.

Unexpectedly honest.

“Then why are you helping me?”

Richard looked away.

“Because I made a mistake thirty years ago.”

“What mistake?”

His expression changed.

“I thought protecting powerful people was the same as doing the right thing.”

He looked at Isabella.

“I was wrong.”

Margaret stared at Richard.

“You knew she was alive all this time.”

Richard nodded.

“Yes.”

“And you never told Eleanor?”

“No.”

Anger appeared in Isabella's eyes.

“So all of you knew.”

She looked between them.

“Everyone knew pieces of my life except me.”

Nobody answered.

Because she was right.

Suddenly...

A loud sound came from outside.

The warehouse doors opened.

Slowly.

A man entered.

Theodore Whitmore.

The room became silent.

He looked older than the photographs.

But Isabella immediately knew.

This man was connected to her.

Not by memory.

But by blood.

A strange feeling moved through her.

A feeling she hated.

Because part of her recognized him.

Theodore smiled.

“After all these years.”

His eyes moved to Isabella.

“My little Lily.”

Isabella stepped back.

“Don't call me that.”

Theodore's smile disappeared.

“You have your mother's attitude.”

“My mother?”

“Yes.”

He walked closer.

“Eleanor always believed love was stronger than power.”

His voice became bitter.

“She was wrong.”

Margaret stepped in front of Isabella.

“You destroyed her life.”

Theodore looked at her.

“And you helped.”

Margaret's face became pale.

The words hurt because they were true.

“I saved her.”

“No.”

Theodore smiled.

“You hid her.”

A pause.

“And that was exactly what I needed.”

Isabella looked at Theodore.

“You planned everything.”

He looked at her.

“Yes.”

The honesty shocked her.

No denial.

No excuses.

Just the truth.

“Why?”

Theodore walked around the warehouse.

“Because the Whitmore empire belonged to me.”

Isabella shook her head.

“It belonged to my grandfather's bloodline.”

“And I was family.”

“You were not the heir.”

His expression darkened.

“That was the problem.”

Theodore explained everything.

Years ago, the Whitmore family created an inheritance rule.

Only the direct descendant of the original bloodline could control the company.

When Lily was born...

Theodore realized something.

If anything happened to Eleanor's daughter...

The inheritance could change.

He believed Alexander was too young.

He believed William was weak.

He believed Eleanor would never recover.

So he created a plan.

A plan built on one simple idea.

Remove Lily.

Control the future.

Isabella listened in disbelief.

“You destroyed a child for money.”

Theodore looked at her.

“No.”

He corrected her.

“I destroyed a child for power.”

The answer was even worse.

At the Whitmore mansion...

Alexander received a call.

His expression changed immediately.

“What?”

Everyone looked at him.

Eleanor stood.

“What happened?”

Alexander lowered the phone.

“It is Isabella.”

Eleanor's heart stopped.

“What about her?”

“She found Theodore.”

The room went silent.

Thomas looked shocked.

“Theodore is alive?”

Alexander nodded.

“And he has Isabella.”

Eleanor felt panic.

Not the fear of losing power.

Not the fear of losing reputation.

The fear of losing her daughter again.

“No.”

She grabbed her coat.

“I am going.”

Alexander stopped her.

“Mother, wait.”

“I waited thirty years.”

Her voice broke.

“I will not wait another minute.”

Back at the warehouse...

Theodore continued speaking.

“You know what was interesting?”

He looked at Isabella.

“Your mother never stopped searching.”

Isabella's eyes narrowed.

“What?”

“She spent millions trying to find you.”

His smile became cruel.

“She destroyed herself trying to find a child I had already hidden.”

Isabella felt tears forming.

For the first time...

She understood.

Her mother had loved her.

Even when she was gone.

Even when everyone told her to give up.

Theodore stepped closer.

“You should be grateful.”

Isabella looked at him with anger.

“Grateful?”

“Yes.”

“I gave you a different life.”

“You stole my life.”

Theodore's expression hardened.

“You were nothing before I gave you a chance.”

The words made Isabella furious.

“I was a person.”

Theodore stared at her.

“You were an obstacle.”

Suddenly...

A loud crash came from outside.

Everyone turned.

Several vehicles had arrived.

Security teams surrounded the warehouse.

Theodore frowned.

“What is this?”

A voice echoed.

“Your worst mistake.”

Everyone looked toward the entrance.

Eleanor Whitmore walked in.

Behind her were Alexander, Thomas, and Daniel.

For the first time in thirty years...

Eleanor and Theodore stood face to face.

Theodore smiled.

“Still fighting for the child you lost?”

Eleanor looked at him.

“No.”

She looked at Isabella.

“I am fighting for the daughter I found.”

Theodore laughed.

“You think you can undo thirty years?”

Eleanor stepped closer.

“No.”

Her eyes became cold.

“But I can make sure you pay for every day she lost.”

Theodore looked at Isabella.

“You believe them?”

She stared at him.

“You took my childhood.”

A pause.

“You took my mother away from me.”

Another pause.

“And you expect me to believe you cared about me?”

For the first time...

Theodore had no answer.

Then Daniel noticed something.

A small mark on Theodore's hand.

A symbol.

The same symbol from the jade pendant.

His face changed.

“Wait.”

Everyone looked at him.

Daniel stepped closer.

“That symbol.”

Theodore quickly hid his hand.

But it was too late.

Daniel knew.

Because that symbol revealed something nobody expected.

Theodore was not the only person involved.

There was another person.

Someone who had helped him.

Someone who had been close to Eleanor for thirty years.

Daniel whispered:

“The person who gave Theodore access to the family records...”

He looked toward the Whitmore family.

“Is still inside this mansion.”

Everyone froze.

Because the enemy was not gone.

The enemy had been watching them.

Waiting.

And now...

May you like

They were ready to strike again.
