Chapter 5: Infiltration
Morning broke with a heavy, oppressive fog. Daniel left Elena resting with a loaded pistol at her side and took Rosa into the heart of the city. The municipal archives were housed in a brutalist concrete building, heavily guarded even on a normal day. Today, Alejandro’s men in tailored suits were stationed at the entrances, masquerading as private security.
"They know we'll come for the documents," Daniel muttered from the driver's seat of their stolen sedan.

"They don't know what name it's under," Rosa replied, pulling a dark hood over her head. "I used my mother's maiden name. Vargas. Section four, vault twelve."
Daniel initiated a distraction, ramming the stolen car into a fire hydrant near the side entrance and setting off the alarm, sending water spraying into the street. As the guards rushed to the commotion, Rosa slipped through the loading dock. She moved like a phantom through the sterile, fluorescent-lit halls, her heart hammering against her bruised ribs until she found vault twelve.
