Chapter 9: The Fall of the King

Chaos erupted. Gunfire flashed in the dark like strobe lights. Daniel moved through the shadows with lethal precision, taking down Alejandro’s men one by one. He knew their tactics, their blind spots, their weaknesses. He was a ghost dismantling an army.

Rosa used the distraction to sprint toward Elena. She tackled the pregnant woman to the wet asphalt just as bullets shredded the chair Elena had been tied to. Rosa sliced the zip ties binding Elena's wrists, dragging her behind a forklift for cover.

Alejandro, realizing his men were falling, drew his golden revolver and stalked toward the forklift. "You can't hide from me!" he roared.

He rounded the corner, aiming his weapon at Elena. But he didn't see Daniel dropping from the roof of the adjacent shipping container. Daniel tackled Alejandro to the ground, the golden gun skittering across the pavement. The two men fought savagely in the rain, but Alejandro, soft from years of luxury, was no match for a desperate survivor. Daniel locked a chokehold around Alejandro’s neck, squeezing until the tyrant's eyes rolled back and he fell unconscious to the wet ground.
