Chapter 14: New Identity, Old Habits

Three hours later, a battered, soaking wet figure climbed aboard a twin-engine Cessna idling on a forgotten airstrip on the outskirts of the city.

Regina collapsed into the leather seat, gasping for air. Her feet were bleeding, her obsidian tuxedo was shredded, and she tasted the distinct, metallic tang of blood in her mouth. But she was alive.

The pilot, a smuggler paid in advance with three of the conflict diamonds, didn't ask questions. He pushed the throttle forward, and the plane lifted off into the stormy night sky, leaving the burning wreckage of the Blake Empire behind.

Regina looked out the window at the receding city lights. She had lost her company, her fortune, and her name. But as the adrenaline settled, a cold, familiar fire ignited in her chest. Maya and The Loom thought they had destroyed her. But Regina was a survivor. She would rebuild. She would find them. And she would tear their lives apart, thread by thread.

She reached into the pocket of her ruined jacket to pull out the pouch of remaining diamonds, her seed money for a new life.
