Two hours later, Regina paced the floor of her glass-walled penthouse overlooking the city skyline. The city below was a grid of indifferent lights, oblivious to the storm brewing in the atmosphere.
Her head of security and chief fixer, Vance, stood by the mahogany desk, his face illuminated by the harsh blue light of a tablet. Vance was an ex-intelligence operative who had spent the last decade burying Regina's scandals.
"It’s bad, Regina," Vance said, his voice flat. "It’s not just Twitter. Our stock has dropped four percent in after-hours trading. The board is organizing an emergency call."
"Let them call," Regina scoffed, pouring herself a glass of scotch. "They need me. I built this empire. Tomorrow, we announce a charitable donation to some textile fund, and the sheep will forget. They always do."

"You don't understand," Vance insisted, swiping across his screen. "This isn't a PR crisis. Our internal servers are being probed. Heavily. Someone is trying to break into the mainframe. The firewalls are taking massive hits."
Regina stopped, the crystal tumbler halfway to her lips. "Who?"
