The final evidence was a recording.
It contained a conversation between Margaret and Daniel's father.
They discussed the custody plan.
They discussed the hospital records.

Most importantly, they admitted that Emma had never been unstable.
They had deliberately tried to make her look unstable.
The recording ended the investigation.
There was no room left for excuses.

Months later, Emma stood in Lily's bedroom.
The room was bright with afternoon sunlight.
White walls.
White bedding.
A stuffed bunny on the pillow.
