Chapter 11: The Arrests
The next hour was a symphony of justice.
I sat back on the velvet settee and watched as the social hierarchy of the East Coast elite was systematically dismantled.
Senator Hastings was read his Miranda rights while being pushed out the front door.
Chloe Wentworth was placed in zip-ties, weeping as she was led to a transport van.
Every person in the room who had participated in the Holloway syndicate’s illegal auctions was detained. The FBI agents moved efficiently, utilizing the digital ledger I had provided to identify the key players in the room.
Agent Miller approached me again. “We’ve breached the subterranean vault. Our evidence teams are securing the artifacts and the physical ledger now. Your private security team is being fully cooperative.”
“They have orders to assist you in any way possible,” I said.
“Ms. Vale, I have to ask,” Miller said, crossing his arms. “You orchestrated this entire night. You bought the foundation, installed military-grade security, and trapped them here. Why did you let him hit you?”
I lightly touched the bruise on my cheek. It was throbbing now.
“Because without a violent felony committed in plain sight, I couldn't legally trigger the emergency containment protocol,” I explained calmly. “I needed him to show the world exactly who he was, so I could show the world exactly what he was hiding.”

Miller stared at me, a mixture of respect and mild fear in his eyes. “You’re a dangerous woman, Ms. Vale.”
“Only to dangerous men, Agent Miller.”
