Chapter 10 - THE BOARD VOTE

Khloe survived surgery.
She did not wake up.
Two days later, Harrison discovered why Richard had moved so quickly.
Harrington Commercial Group's board was preparing to approve an emergency restructuring.
The restructuring would transfer several valuable developments into a new subsidiary.
That subsidiary was controlled by Stonebridge Capital.
The shell company.
The same company connected to Khloe's stolen money.
If the vote passed, hundreds of millions of dollars in assets could disappear beyond the reach of the injunction.
Harrison filed an emergency motion.
The hearing began Monday morning.
Richard appeared by video.
He looked composed.
Devastated husband.
Worried father.
Responsible CEO.
His attorneys argued that Harrison was using a family tragedy to interfere with legitimate corporate operations.
Harrison remained silent until the judge turned to him.
"Mr. Cole?"
Harrison stood.
"Your Honor, my sister is currently unconscious because a woman involved in these transactions pushed her down thirty courthouse steps."
Richard's attorney jumped up.
"Objection."
"Sit down."
The judge looked at Harrison.
"Continue."
Harrison placed three documents on the display.
"These are loan guarantees bearing Khloe Harrington's signature."
He displayed four authentic signatures.
Then the disputed ones.
"They are not hers."
Richard shook his head.
Harrison displayed the payment to Samuel Pike.
"This man accessed courthouse surveillance approximately four minutes after my sister fell."
Another document appeared.
"He received seventy-five thousand dollars from Davenport Urban Partners."
Then Harrison showed ownership records.
"Davenport is controlled through two layers of entities."
The courtroom became silent.
"The final beneficiary is Vanessa Kensington."
Richard's expression changed.
It was small.
But Harrison saw it.
The judge froze the board vote.
For forty-eight hours.
Outside court, reporters surrounded Harrison.
He said nothing.
Detective Ruiz called him before he reached the elevator.
"We found Pike."
"Alive?"
"Yes."
"Where?"
"A motel outside Pittsburgh."
Harrison exhaled.
"Is he talking?"
"Not yet."
Then Ruiz added something else.
"He had twenty thousand dollars cash."
"And a burner phone."
Harrison stopped walking.
"What's on it?"
"One message."
"From whom?"
"We don't know."
"What does it say?"
Ruiz read it aloud.
If she walks out of the courthouse with the injunction, everything collapses.
Harrison's blood went cold.

This was no longer evidence of a cover-up after the fall.
Someone had been worried about Khloe before she fell.
