Chapter 11 - Ghost Ship of the AtlanticThe high-speed tactical launch sliced through the black waves of the North Atlantic, fifty miles off the coast of Rhode Island. Dense fog hung low over the ocean, swallowing the horizon whole.

Adrian stood at the bow, clad in a tailored midnight-blue tuxedo, holding the handrail as spray stung his face. Deep in his coat pocket, his fingers gripped the cool, heavy slab of black titanium—Charles Whitmore’s platinum token.
"Ten minutes out, Boss," the launch operator called back over the roar of the twin diesel engines.
"Understood," Adrian muttered. He tapped his ear, activating the bone-conduction comms earpiece linked directly to the Appalachian cabin. "Scott, do you have my signal?"
"Static is heavy, but I hear you," Scott’s raspy voice came through the earpiece. "I’ve tapped into the Aethelgard’s marine transponder. She’s cruising at twelve knots. The ship is a floating city of shadows, Adrian. No flag, no registry, floating on unregistered satellite frequencies. Once you step onto that deck, you are entirely off the grid."
"What’s security like?"
"Heavy. They use biometric tokens paired with encrypted radio-frequency IDs," Scott replied, the sound of keyboard clicks audible in the background. "When you swipe Charles’s token, their system will read you as his designated proxy. As long as Charles hasn't managed to flag the stolen token with their high command, your cover holds. But if he gets a wire through..."
"He’s currently dodging federal agents in Manhattan," Adrian said grimly. "He doesn't have time to call customer service."
Out of the gloom, the vessel materialized like a terrifying monolith. The Aethelgard was a massive, 500-foot converted megayacht painted in matte black, devoid of standard navigational running lights. Golden luminescence bled from the tinted floor-to-ceiling windows of its upper decks, where the world’s most dangerous elites gathered to trade in human misery and untraceable capital.
The launch matched speed with the megayacht’s starboard water-level entry port. Hydraulic doors hissed open on the hull, revealing two guards dressed in immaculate charcoal suits with submachine guns discreetly tucked under their jackets.
Adrian stepped across the gap with supreme confidence, projecting the cold aura of an heir born to command wealth.
"Token," the head guard demanded in a thick Eastern European accent, extending a hand holding an optical scanner.
Adrian didn't say a word. He pulled the black titanium card from his pocket and pressed it into the reader.
A sharp chime sounded. The red light flashed emerald green.
Proxy Verified: Whitmore Estate - Platinum Tier.
The guard’s stance immediately softened into a bow of deferential respect. "Welcome back aboard the Aethelgard, sir. The main lounge is open. The primary auction begins in twenty minutes on Level Three."
"Ensure my vessel remains docked until I depart," Adrian instructed coldly, stepping past them into the grand elevator.
As the elevator glided upward, the low thrum of classical music and clinking champagne glasses grew louder. When the silver doors parted, Adrian stepped into a world of sickening luxury. Women in diamond-encrusted gowns and men in bespoke tuxedos milled about, sipping rare vintages while digital boards displayed dark market indexes.
Adrian scanned the crowd, keeping his head up and his posture rigid. Every instinct screamed at him to draw a weapon, but he knew patience was his only weapon.

"Scott," Adrian murmured under his breath, raising his glass to his lips to hide his mouth. "I'm in."
"Good," Scott whispered. "Now find my wife."
