Chapter 8 - The Ghost’s PlayDeep in the Appalachian mountains, the old hunting cabin had been transformed. Gone was the rustic charm; in its place was a high-tech nerve center. Three massive monitors dominated the living room table, glowing with cascading lines of code.

Scott Whitmore sat in a wheelchair Marcus had procured, an IV drip of fluids and nutrients attached to his arm. He looked terrible—pale, gaunt, and exhausted—but his eyes were alive with a manic, brilliant fire. The billionaire prodigy who had built the Whitmore tech empire from the ground up was back in his element.

Leo sat quietly on the sofa, watching his father with a mixture of awe and fear. Marcus stood guard at the window, checking his rifle.

"Talk to me, Scott," Adrian’s voice crackled through the speakerphone.

"Charles is sloppy," Scott said, his fingers dancing across the keys at blinding speed. "He spent eight years bleeding my accounts, but he never realized I built backdoors into the Whitmore Foundation's proprietary servers. He thinks he locked me out. He just locked me in."

"What's the play?" Adrian asked.

"I'm initiating a phantom hack," Scott explained, pulling up a digital schematic of the Horizon Tech merger. "Charles is using leveraged debt from his secret Cayman accounts to fund the Horizon buyout. If the board finds out he's using dirty money, they'll vote him out, and the SEC will throw him in a federal penitentiary."

"He knows that. That's why he's hiding the ledgers," Adrian noted.

"Exactly. So, I am going to make him panic," Scott smiled, a dark, predatory grin. "I am draining the Cayman accounts. Right now."

On the screen, a progress bar appeared. Millions of dollars began transferring in a blur, funneling through a dozen dummy corporations Scott had set up years ago in case of an emergency.

"Where are you sending it?" Marcus asked, leaning over the table.

"To Adrian’s personal charity foundation," Scott laughed bitterly. "Charles is going to wake up tomorrow morning to find his blackmail fund empty, his leverage gone, and the money sitting in the most public, heavily audited place possible."

"When he realizes the money is gone, he won't be able to close the Horizon deal," Adrian's voice buzzed with excitement. "He'll need collateral. Fast."

"And what's the most valuable thing he owns outside the company?" Scott asked, his voice trembling slightly with suppressed rage.

"His platinum token for the Blackwood Consortium," Adrian finished. "He'll try to pawn his shares in the syndicate to secure a bridge loan from the underworld."

"Exactly. When he goes to make the trade, we intercept," Scott said, hitting the final execution key. The screens flashed green. Transfer Complete. "Happy hunting, little brother."
