Chapter 20 - Rebuilding the ThroneThree months later.

The morning sun streamed through the massive floor-to-ceiling windows of the grand ballroom at the Whitmore Estate. It was the same ballroom where, three months earlier, a thin, bruised boy had stepped out of the shadows to touch a stainless-steel watch.
Today, there were no arrogant socialites whispers, no corrupt stepfather lurking in the background, no heavy clouds of tragedy hanging over the house.
Charles Whitmore had been sentenced to three life terms without the possibility of parole at a federal supermax facility, his assets completely seized and converted into a massive international restitution fund for victims of corporate crime and trafficking.
The double doors of the ballroom opened.
Scott Whitmore stood at the podium in a tailor-made suit, looking healthy, broad-shouldered, and strong. Beside him stood Anna, glowing in an elegant cream dress, her hand resting warmly in his.
"Ladies and gentlemen of the press," Scott announced into the bank of microphones, his voice echoing across the crowded room. "Today, the Whitmore Foundation officially resumes its original mandate. We are transferring fifty percent of all corporate equity into a permanent trust designed to dismantle dark-market networks and protect vulnerable families across the globe."
The room erupted into thunderous applause.
At the back of the room, standing beside Eleanor, Adrian watched his brother with a quiet, deep sense of fulfillment. Eleanor squeezed Adrian’s arm, her eyes shining with proud tears.
"You brought him home, Adrian," she whispered softly.
"We brought each other home, Mom," Adrian replied gently.
After the press conference concluded, the family walked out onto the sunlit terrace overlooking the sweeping green lawns of the estate.
Leo was running across the grass with a golden retriever puppy Marcus had bought him for his ninth birthday, his laughter echoing across the hills.
Scott walked over to Adrian, leaning against the stone balustrade. He pulled something from his pocket—a sleek, pristine stainless-steel watch box—and handed it to his younger brother.
Adrian opened it. Inside sat the original matching stainless-steel watch—restored, cleaned, and ticking with perfect precision.
"Where did you get this?" Adrian asked, stunned.
"Marcus recovered it from the cabin ruins," Scott smiled softly. "I spent the last two weeks fixing the internal gears myself."
Adrian pulled the watch from the box and clasped it tightly around his left wrist. The cool metal felt natural, heavy with history, but no longer weighed down by guilt. It was no longer a reminder of a grave; it was a promise fulfilled.
Leo came running up the stone steps, his face flushed and grinning, holding the duplicate watch Adrian had given him on that fateful night.
"Uncle Adrian!" Leo shouted, holding up his wrist. "Look! It’s still ticking!"
Adrian crouched down to Leo's level, ruffling the boy's hair with a warm smile.

"It’ll keep ticking for a long time, Leo," Adrian said, looking up at Scott and Anna, who walked over to join them under the clear blue sky. "Because from now on, no one in this family walks alone."
The sun burned brightly overhead, illuminating the estate. The storm was over, the empire was restored, and the Whitmore brothers stood together—unbroken, untamed, and finally free.
