Chapter 1 - The Shattered Glass

The polished marble floor of the Sinclair Tower lobby reflected the stunned silence of the massive room.
Victoria’s face drained of color as the heavy reality of Elena’s words finally crashed into her fragile ego.
The heavy gold necklace resting perfectly against Elena’s collarbone bore the undisputed, ancient crest of the main Sinclair bloodline.
It was a legendary heirloom, a piece of jewelry passed down only to the absolute, undisputed ruler of the global financial empire.
"This is completely impossible," Victoria stammered.
Her voice trembled violently as she desperately backed away from the young woman she had just physically assaulted.
"You were supposed to be just a clumsy maid," she whispered.
Elena calmly adjusted the crisp cuffs of her understated, yet impeccably tailored, white silk blouse.
"The only major mistake here was your foolish assumption that immense power always wears loud colors and heavily branded designer labels," Elena replied.
Her voice was as cold and unforgiving as liquid nitrogen.
Two burly corporate security guards immediately stepped forward from the shadows, forcefully grabbing Victoria by her delicate arms.
"Unhand me immediately, or I swear I will personally have your jobs by the end of the day!" Victoria shrieked.
She thrashed wildly, her incredibly expensive stiletto heels slipping dangerously on the dark puddle of spilled red wine.
The imposing head of security, a towering veteran named Marcus, did not even flinch at her empty threats.
"You heard the Chairman," Marcus stated flatly.
"Your access to this building, and all affiliated properties, has been permanently revoked," he added.
Victoria was unceremoniously dragged toward the massive revolving glass doors, screaming profanities that echoed loudly across the vast, high-ceilinged atrium.
The wealthy elites and high-ranking corporate executives who had gathered to watch the morning commotion quickly averted their eyes in sheer terror.
None of them dared to make even a second of eye contact with the newly revealed sovereign of their ruthless financial world.
Elena bent down with elegant grace to pick up her discarded disguise hood and cap from the ruined puddle of expensive wine.
She handed the ruined, stained garments to a visibly terrified young receptionist standing behind the front desk.
"Have this entire floor cleaned and sanitized immediately, and ensure her name is completely wiped from all our active subsidiary accounts before noon," Elena instructed.
She turned on her heel and walked with incredible purpose toward the private, heavily guarded executive elevator.
The gleaming golden doors slid open automatically to welcome her inside.
As she stepped into the plush cabin, a faint, dangerous smile finally grazed her soft lips.
