Chapter 7 - The Alpine Ambush

The dimly lit underground club smelled strongly of expensive Cuban cigars and highly aged, rare cognac.

Elena and Julian bypassed the heavily armed security detail at the front door with a mere flash of the legendary Sinclair crest.

The massive, soundproofed main room was filled with incredibly wealthy, powerful men engaged in high-stakes, illegal underground trading.

At the very center of the opulent room sat an incredibly handsome, silver-haired man playing a quiet game of chess by himself.

Alexander Sterling was a notorious, ruthless venture capitalist who had violently clashed with Elena's grandfather decades ago.

He slowly looked up from his carved marble chess pieces, a deeply sinister, arrogant smile spreading across his sharp face.

"I must admit, I truly did not expect the newly crowned little bird to actually fly directly into the snake's den," Alexander mocked softly.

Elena confidently walked straight toward his table, ignoring the heavy, hostile glares of his numerous armed bodyguards.

"I received your incredibly dramatic, heavily encrypted text message, Alexander," she said dismissively.

"I decided to save us both the tedious back-and-forth and simply come crush you in person," she added.

Alexander laughed a deep, booming laugh that echoed loudly against the expensive, silk-lined walls.

"You possess your late grandfather's dangerous arrogance, but you completely lack his seasoned wisdom," he sneered.

"While you were busy squashing pathetic bugs like Victoria, my firm quietly bought up a massive controlling interest in your primary European supply chains," he revealed.

He forcefully slammed a heavy, black leather folder onto the chess board, aggressively knocking over several expensive pieces.

"By tomorrow morning, the Sinclair Empire will be completely paralyzed across three continents unless you sign over your central tech division to me," he threatened.

Julian immediately tensed beside her, his hand slowly inching toward the concealed weapon hidden beneath his tailored jacket.

Elena merely smiled, a chilling, dead-eyed expression that made Alexander's confident smile falter slightly.

"You heavily rely on outdated, highly inaccurate intelligence, Alexander," she informed him smoothly.

"I anticipated your aggressive supply chain strategy roughly three years ago while I was allegedly scrubbing floors," she explained.

She pulled a sleek, silver flash drive from her pocket and tossed it carelessly onto his ruined chessboard.

"That drive contains the finalized, legally binding contracts showing I secretly completely relocated our entire European manufacturing base to Southeast Asia last month," she stated.

Alexander's pale face instantly drained of color as the heavy reality of her brilliant, preemptive strike washed over him.

"The heavily indebted European factories you just spent billions to acquire are completely empty, worthless shells," she whispered.

"You just financially ruined your own massive cartel to buy absolute garbage," she concluded.

She turned on her heel to leave, effectively leaving the highly dangerous, humiliated billionaire staring blankly at his complete ruin.

"Enjoy your expensive new empty warehouses, Alexander," she called over her shoulder.
