Chapter 11 - The Capitol Target

The gleaming golden sun rose steadily over the massive concrete jungle of New York City, casting brilliant beams of bright light across the polished glass exterior of the towering Sinclair Tower.

Inside the heavily fortified penthouse suite, Elena Sinclair stood perfectly still, silently observing the waking metropolis with a deeply calculating, cold gaze.

The brutal, historic defeat of the Obsidian Group had temporarily silenced her numerous corporate rivals, but immense power always attracted entirely new, heavily armed predators.

Julian walked quietly into the massive, sunlit office, carrying a thick, highly secure leather briefcase that contained the morning intelligence briefings.

"The global markets have successfully stabilized, and our newly acquired European assets are already generating massive, unprecedented quarterly profits," Julian reported smoothly.

Elena did not turn away from the massive, floor-to-ceiling window, her sharp mind already actively planning roughly ten aggressive steps ahead of her enemies.

"Corporate raiders and greedy hedge fund managers are merely simple, predictable animals driven entirely by raw, unrefined greed," she noted thoughtfully.

"I am currently far more concerned about the dangerous, hypocritical wolves wearing expensive tailored suits in Washington," she added with a heavy sigh.

As if completely on cue, Julian’s secure mobile device buzzed aggressively with a highly urgent, heavily encrypted notification.

He quickly scanned the bright digital screen, his handsome face instantly dropping into a severe, deeply troubled frown.

"It highly appears your sharp instincts are absolutely flawless once again, Chairman," he sighed heavily.

"Senator Robert Vance, the highly powerful head of the massive federal antitrust committee, has just publicly announced a full congressional investigation into our recent market activities," Julian revealed.

Elena finally turned around, her dark eyes flashing with a highly dangerous, intensely competitive light.

"Senator Vance has secretly hated my late grandfather for roughly two decades, entirely due to a heavily contested campaign finance dispute," she recalled precisely.

"He falsely believes that because I am a young, newly established female executive, I will easily fold under the heavy, suffocating pressure of a live public hearing," she deduced.

Julian carefully opened the heavy briefcase and placed a pristine, official federal subpoena directly onto her massive antique desk.

"He wants you to personally testify in front of the entire heavily televised Senate committee by next Tuesday morning," Julian stated grimly.

"He is aggressively planning to completely humiliate you on live national television and legally force the total dissolution of our newly consolidated empire," he warned.

Elena slowly walked over to the desk and casually picked up the heavy, officially stamped document with a completely dismissive smirk.

"Senator Vance heavily relies on incredibly outdated, theatrical political bullying tactics that essentially belong in the previous century," she observed coldly.

"Prepare the private corporate jet and completely mobilize our elite, highly aggressive legal team immediately," she commanded.

"We are going to forcefully bring a massive, entirely unexpected corporate war directly to the heavily guarded steps of the United States Capitol," she promised.
