Chapter 16 - The Phantom Syndicate

The aftermath of the violent tower siege left the global financial world in absolute awe of Elena Sinclair.
Every major news outlet across the world repeatedly broadcasted the stunning details of her flawless victory.
She had successfully defended her massive corporate empire against a highly trained underground mercenary army without breaking a single sweat.
Julian walked into her pristine, sunlit office holding a stack of highly encrypted international financial reports.
"The global markets have never been this incredibly stable, Chairman," he announced with a bright, genuine smile.
"Our massive stock valuation has officially tripled since the highly publicized defeat of the Obsidian Group and Senator Vance," he added.
Elena stared out the massive glass window, her sharp eyes scanning the bustling New York City skyline.
"Stability is merely a highly temporary illusion created by frightened men to help them sleep at night, Julian," she replied calmly.
"There is always a much bigger, significantly more dangerous predator hiding silently in the deep, dark water," she warned.
Her highly secure, encrypted private terminal suddenly began flashing with a bright, aggressive crimson warning light.
Julian rushed over to the massive mahogany desk, his handsome face immediately contorting into a mask of pure shock.
"Someone is aggressively attempting to violently hack into our primary, highly classified Southeast Asian artificial intelligence servers," Julian stated frantically.
"They are heavily utilizing a massive, completely untraceable quantum computing network to systematically break our strongest firewalls," he explained.
Elena did not even flinch as she slowly sat down in her custom leather chair.
"It highly appears the phantom syndicate my grandfather warned me about has finally decided to officially reveal themselves," she whispered.
"Initiate the shadow protocol immediately, and completely sever the main server from the global internet grid," she commanded.
This invisible, highly advanced enemy was absolutely not interested in simple money or traditional political power.
They wanted to forcefully steal her massive technological infrastructure to effectively control the entire future of global digital commerce.
