The courtroom was packed. Journalists, curious onlookers, and former friends filled the gallery.
Preston wore a gray suit that hung loosely on his now-gaunt frame. The trial moved swiftly. The prosecution called the paramedic, who detailed Sophie’s injuries. They called Chloe, who flawlessly dismantled Preston’s character, revealing his massive debts and his obsessive hatred for me.
Preston’s defense lawyer tried to argue it was a "crime of passion," a momentary lapse of judgment caused by the stress of the wedding and the "theft" of the phone.
