Outside, the roar of rotors tore through the serene evening. Helicopters—not news choppers, but matte-black tactical birds—descended upon the estate. Brilliant, blinding searchlights swept through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting long, frantic shadows across the bloodstained marble.
