As the paramedics wrapped my back in sterile gauze and loaded me onto a stretcher, I watched the agents strip Nathan of his bespoke jacket, zip-tie his hands, and drag him toward an armored transport. Celeste was in hysterics, her makeup running down her face as an agent read her her rights.
The media caught wind within the hour. By the time I was resting in a secure, private wing of the city’s top trauma center, Ashford Global was in freefall. Stocks plummeted. Board members resigned en masse. My father sat in the corner of my hospital room, typing away on a tablet, coordinating the utter annihilation of Nathan’s offshore havens.
