Lily's mother explained.
Before Lily was born, she had discovered she was carrying twins.
But one baby disappeared from the records.
Ethan could barely breathe.
“Twins?”
Emma nodded.
“The second baby was supposedly stillborn.”
Hannah looked shocked.
“But you never told me.”
“I was told the child died.”
Daniel lowered his head.
“I was never certain.”
Ethan stared at him.
“What does that mean?”
Daniel admitted that the hospital records had been altered.
The second child may have survived.
Victor knew.
That was why he had mentioned another heir.
Claire asked.
“Where is the child?”
Nobody knew.
They searched the original hospital records.
One name appeared.
Baby Reed.
Transferred.
No destination.
No death certificate.
No adoption record.
Just a blank space.
Hannah looked at Emma.
“Could Lily have a sibling?”
Emma nodded.
“If the record is real.”
Lily overheard them.
“Do I have a brother or sister?”
Emma knelt.
“We don't know yet.”
Lily looked sad.
“I want to find them.”
Ethan promised.
“We will.”
The investigation reopened.
Agents searched old hospitals.
Then they found a lead.
A child matching the description had been adopted seven years earlier.
The adoptive family lived in another state.
Ethan stared at the photograph.
The child had Lily's eyes.
Hannah whispered.
“That's her.”
Emma covered her mouth.
The missing heir was alive.
But before they could contact the family, another message arrived.
Do not look for the child.
Victor had sent it from prison.
