Chapter 9 - The Test Results
It was time for the first scan since the trial began.
The anxiety in the room was palpable as they waited for Dr. Evans.
Sarah squeezed David's hand so hard her knuckles turned white.
The door clicked open, and the doctor stepped inside.
He didn't have his usual serious expression.
Instead, a warm, genuine smile spread across his face.
"I have good news," Dr. Evans announced.
The tumor had shrunk significantly.
The experimental treatment was working better than they had hoped.
Sarah burst into tears, the relief washing over her like a tidal wave.
David pulled her into a tight embrace, burying his face in her shoulder.
They cried together, letting go of the pent-up fear and stress.
"You did it, you are beating this," David whispered fiercely.
The long nights and the agonizing pain had not been in vain.
