From the front row, Olivia let out a sharp, pathetic gasp, collapsing heavily back into the wooden pew as if she had been shot through the heart. Her precious, world-saving grandson, the heir to the Vance legacy, was a total fraud.
But I wasn't finished. The demolition was only half complete.
“Keep reading, Dominic,” I ordered, my voice cutting through his despair like a blade.
His trembling hands fumbled blindly to the second document. It was a formal, heavily-redacted notice of immediate foreclosure, asset seizure, and corporate restructuring, filed by Sinclair Holdings.
“As of midnight last night,” Leo’s voice boomed with authority as he stepped up to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with me, “Sinclair Holdings executed the forfeiture clauses hidden in your initial seed-funding contracts. Contracts you didn't bother to read. Your company is ours. Your patents are ours. Your penthouse is currently locked and being cleared by our movers. And those platinum credit cards you used to pay for this million-dollar party? We canceled them an hour ago. You owe the caterers, Dominic.”
