The morning of the wedding was brutally cold, with a heavy, cinematic rain lashing against the gray streets of the city. Thunder rumbled in the distance, a fitting soundtrack for the day. I dressed in a sharp, tailored black trench coat—mourning attire for a funeral they didn't know they were attending.
I secured Grace in a sleek, tactical infant carrier strapped securely to my chest. She was sleeping soundly, completely oblivious to the fact that her mother was about to start a war. I slid the sealed manila envelope into my inside breast pocket, feeling its weight against my ribs.
Leo stood by the door of my armored SUV, flanked by four off-duty tactical officers employed by Sinclair Security. They were dressed in immaculate sharp suits, earpieces discreetly tucked away, their postures screaming military precision.

“You sure you want to do this in person?” Leo asked, holding a massive black umbrella over me as I stepped into the leather-lined vehicle. “I can have him served at the altar by a process server. It’s safer.”
