We burst out of the stifling cathedral and into the freezing, pouring rain. Sirens were already wailing loudly in the distance, growing louder as multiple police cruisers approached the venue from all directions. Leo had called them ten minutes ago, reporting an anticipated assault to ensure Dominic would leave his own wedding in handcuffs.
We climbed into the warm, waiting SUV. As the heavy armored doors slammed shut, sealing out the noise of the sirens, the vehicle peeled aggressively away from the curb. I looked down at my chest. Miraculously, Grace was still fast asleep, completely unbothered, lulled by the steady, calm rhythm of my heartbeat.

“Well,” Leo breathed heavily, wiping a drop of rain from his brow and casually straightening his silk tie as we sped through the rain-slicked streets. “I’d say the divorce is officially finalized.”
I looked out the tinted window at the blurring city lights. Dominic was left with absolutely nothing. No company, no home, no heir, and a fraudulent, pregnant bride. He would likely spend his wedding night in a damp, concrete holding cell for attempted assault on his wife, only to be released into a world where he had zero money, zero power, and zero reputation.
