Chapter 4: The Boardroom Phantom

Chapter 4: The Boardroom Phantom

Three days later, I was resting in my mother's fortified, heavily-guarded guesthouse, far away from the city. I was feeding Grace before sunrise when my encrypted inbox chimed. It was a routine automated billing notice from our private fertility clinic.

Grace had been conceived using our last frozen embryo after years of struggle. But this email wasn't about Grace. It was reminding us of the annual storage and maintenance fee for Dominic's medical records—specifically, his permanent vasectomy.

A procedure performed exactly fourteen months before Brooke claimed she had miraculously become pregnant with his "heir."

I stared at the digitized date on the medical invoice for several long, silent seconds. The math was undeniable. The biology was absolute. Brooke was playing him, and Dominic’s obsession with a male heir had blinded him to basic arithmetic.

Alone in the quiet nursery, I smiled. It was a terrifying, genuine smile. Dominic hadn't simply betrayed me. He had built his entire arrogant future on a catastrophic lie—one capable of completely destroying everyone standing beside him.

I forwarded the email to Leo with a single line of text: Check his medical file. Then prep the demolition.

For the next three months, while Dominic paraded his new life around the city, Leo and I moved like phantoms through the corporate architecture. Dominic was too busy giving magazine interviews about his "self-made" success to notice the quiet shifting of assets. Leo legally untangled every thread of Dominic’s power, transferring the proprietary tech patents back to Sinclair Holdings and restructuring the company's massive operational debt so it fell squarely, and personally, on Dominic’s ledgers.

We weren't just taking away his wealth; we were digging a financial grave so deep he would never see the sun again.
